BES-001: UNDERSTANDING THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILD
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. ‘Gender is a social construction’. Elaborate the statement with suitable examples.
2. Discuss the role of family and school in the process of socialization of a child by giving appropriate examples.
3. Visit a nearby school and find out the children with special needs. Interview the teachers of these children and prepare a report including the following points:
a) Number of children with special needs
b) Types of children with special needs
c) Teaching methods adopted by teachers
d) Steps taken by school authorities for inclusion

BES-002: TEACHING-LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. Explain the concept and nature of learning. Discuss, with examples, how students at elementary level learn.
2. What is meant by co-operative learning? Illustrate with examples, how different cooperative
learning methods can be used to teach children at elementary level.
3. Choose a subject you are teaching at elementary level. Prepare an achievement test in the same
subject for the annual examination. Describe various steps that you would follow while preparing the test.

BES-004: CONTEMPORARY INDIAN SOCIETY AND EDUCATION
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. Critically analyze the development of English Education in India. Discuss how English Education in India served the political purpose.
2. Through light on the Constitutional provisions for Education in Indian Constitution. Analyze the provisions for education in Indian Constitution that safeguards the educational interest of Minority Communities.
3. Discuss the concept of Equity and Equality in Elementary Education. As a Teacher, what should be your responsibility for ensuring ‘Equity and Equality in Education’ for the students in your School?

BES-008: LANGUAGE AND EARLY LITERACY
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. Social factors such as geographical location, socioeconomic status, caste and ethnic group
influence language diversity. With illustration, discuss the social factors that influence variation in your local language.
2. Explain aphasia and related language disorders.
3. Discuss the characteristics of a good evaluation programme. Develop the following test items
for assessing listening comprehension:
Giving directions
Picture tests
Using short stories
Testing auditory perceptions

BES-009: TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS FOR THE PRIMARY
SCHOOL CHILD
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. What is place value? Describe an activity that you would like to select in teaching place value
at the primary classes.
2. Discuss in brief any two points you would like to consider while planning to teach mathematics to primary school children.
3. Describe activity – based methods to enable children to learn addition and subtraction in fractions.

BES-010: TEACHING OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
4. Describe objectives of environmental studies mentioned in the National Curriculum Framework – 2005.
5. Describe application of Vygotsky’s learning theory in EVS teaching.
6. Discuss the importance of knowing children’s ideas and prior learning for teaching EVS with
examples from your classroom teaching-learning situations.
Answer the following questions in about 1500 words (500 words each).
1. What is the difference between testable questions and hypotheses? Indentify a topic from
Science curriculum of class 7, and frame five testable questions and related hypotheses.
2. What do you understand by concept map? How does concept map help in unit planning?
Identify a unit from class8 science textbook and prepare a concept map.
3. Prepare a lesson plan based on ‘5-E approach’ on any of the following topic:
Separation of substances
Adaptation of animals to climate

Refraction of light
